Bringing greater value and quality to precast and prestressed concrete products
Precast and prestressed concrete products – including beams, columns, and tees – are among the most versatile and practical construction materials available, accelerating the building process and enabling longer spans and reduced structural thickness.
Stud welding is ideally suited for a range of applications for precast and prestressed products, including:
Securing insert and bearing plates. Headed anchors [LINK] provide a superior means of securing insert and bearing plates to precast and prestressed beams, columns, and tees. For insert and bearing plate applications requiring longer embedment anchoring, it is recommended to stud weld using long-length deformed bar anchors produced from low-carbon, cold-rolled steel with a minimum tensile strength of 80,000 psi. These deformed bar anchors [LINK] produce quality control advantages over traditional hand-welded rebar anchors and are available in diameters from 3/8″ to 7/8″ and lengths up to 36″. Stud welded concrete anchor studs reduce the cost per plate and produce a consistently high weld quality with known pull out values.
Preventing plate movement during concrete pour. The use of stud-welded hold-down clips [LINK] can keep plates secure during the concrete pour.
Providing further attachments to headed and deformed bar studs. Welding threaded studs [LINK] to the tops of both headed and deformed bar studs enables further attachments for various purposes.
